Struggle- A possibility of evoking an emotion or thought process connects to my theme of sharing narratives of women’s oppression and survival.

"The Unheard Voice" blends 3D sculpture, sound art, and performance art. This piece is based on Kripa's  experience of being a woman living in a male-dominated society.  The Unheard Voice creative process involves the development of conceptual, visual, audio, and vocal sound effects.  By minimising the use of hand gestures  performed in Indian classical dance , she has expanded the scope of communication to her audience without any cultural barriers.

Ashtanayika discusses eight forms of Nayikas or heroines classified by Bharatamuni in his treatise on performing arts, Natyashastra (Sanskrit text on performing art). The eight nayikas represent eight distinct states (avastha) concerning their hero or Nayaka.

                                                                                                                  Disasters of War

Art serves as a conduit for the “beautiful soul,” a pathway toward humanity, compassion, and healing amid divisions historically caused by man.

Disasters of War explores the tumultuous events of the 21st century while also offering a space to reflect on the past and hope for a more compassionate future. Inspired by Francisco de Goya’s haunting etchings and Friedrich Schiller’s view of art’s moral role, I approach this project through a humanitarian perspective. As a key part of my doctoral thesis, it explores how functional art can awaken conscience and inspire societal change. Through visual stories, I examine manufactured disasters that continue to devastate civilian lives worldwide, aiming to evoke strong emotional engagement and ethical reflection among viewers from different cultural backgrounds.

The objective of Disasters of War is to evoke the beautiful and the sublime by engaging the viewer’s emotions, intellect, and aesthetic sensibilities. While it depicts the devastating consequences of conflict—most poignantly the loss of innocent civilian lives—it also embodies the destructive impulses that threaten humanity. These negative impulses often result in a fractured existence, where sensuous and rational drives fail to achieve balance. Nonetheless, the series also emphasizes an optimistic vision, highlighting harmony with nature and reason as the foundation of order.

I believe art lifts individuals to their fullest potential, fostering an aesthetic culture essential for autonomy and empathy. This aesthetic empathy, developed within oneself, extends outward to foster compassion beyond the aesthetic encounter. Through my interdisciplinary and research-based practice, I aim to promote dialogue across diverse traditions, philosophies, and media, while staying committed to both introspection and social engagement. Ultimately, I want to explore how art can serve as a vessel for compassion, resistance, and hope.
